What this notice covers
This notice applies to the public marketing website at https://primarypractical.uk and to enquiries made through it.
It does not cover the separate consultancy engagement Primary Practical agrees with client schools, which is governed by its own written agreement and data-protection terms, nor third-party websites linked from the site.
Personal data collected
Primary Practical collects only the personal data needed to respond to enquiries and provide services. This includes:
- Identity and contact data: your name and email address, provided when you complete the contact form or send an email.
- Professional data: your school or organisation name and your role, if you choose to provide them.
- Enquiry content: the information you include in your message or discuss when booking a call.
- Booking data: when you book a discovery call, the date, time, and any details you provide through the scheduling provider.
- Technical data: limited information collected automatically by hosting and network providers for security and reliability, such as IP address, browser type, and access times held in server logs.
Sensitive and children's data
Primary Practical does not ask for, and requests that you do not send, special category data (such as health information) or personal data about pupils or other children through this website.
Pupil and safeguarding data is only ever handled under a separate written engagement agreement with the relevant school, with appropriate safeguards in place.
How data is collected
- Directly from you: when you complete the contact form, send an email, or book a discovery call.
- Automatically: through server logs generated by hosting and content delivery providers when you visit the site.
Cookies and analytics
The Primary Practical website does not use tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies, and does not build a profile of your browsing activity.
Any cookies used are strictly necessary for the website to function and to keep it secure. Fonts are served from Primary Practical's own website rather than a third party. If analytics are introduced in future, this notice will be updated and, where required, consent will be sought first.
How and why data is used
Primary Practical uses personal data only where there is a lawful basis to do so under the UK GDPR:
- To respond to your enquiry and discuss your school's needs: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and the legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.
- To arrange and hold discovery calls and meetings: the legitimate interest in providing and administering consultancy services.
- To provide, manage, and improve consultancy services where you become a client: performing the contract with you.
- To keep the website secure and reliable and to prevent misuse: legitimate interests.
- To comply with legal, regulatory, and tax obligations: compliance with a legal obligation.
Legitimate interests and consent
Where Primary Practical relies on legitimate interests, your rights and interests have been considered and data will not be used in ways that override them.
Where Primary Practical relies on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time by contacting hello@primarypractical.uk.
Who data is shared with
Primary Practical does not sell personal data. Data is shared only with trusted service providers (processors) who help run the website and business, and only to the extent necessary. These include:
- Web3Forms: processes contact form submissions and delivers them by email.
- Calendly: manages discovery call bookings when you choose to schedule one.
- Vercel: hosts the website.
- Cloudflare: provides domain, network, and security services.
Disclosures required by law
Primary Practical may disclose personal data where required by law, to establish or defend legal claims, or to protect rights, property, or safety.
International transfers
Some service providers may process personal data outside the United Kingdom. Where they do, Primary Practical takes steps to ensure data receives an equivalent level of protection, for example by relying on UK adequacy regulations or approved safeguards such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.
How long data is kept
Primary Practical keeps personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this notice.
Enquiries that do not lead to an engagement are normally retained for up to 24 months from last contact, after which they are deleted. Where you become a client, relevant records are retained for the duration of the engagement and for as long afterwards as required to meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations (usually up to six years). Server logs are held only for a short period by providers for security purposes.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the following rights over your personal data:
- The right to be informed about how your data is used.
- The right of access to a copy of the data held about you.
- The right to rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- The right to erasure of your data in certain circumstances.
